Teaching Terms Self-evaluation

This is your first time participating in teaching your fellow classmates or in having your classmates teach you hard stuff. You will be doing this all year. Take a few minutes to think about how you did or if you haven't gone yet, how you participated as a classmate.
1> Was your presentation creative?
2) Did you keep it short?
3) Did you define your term both out loud and on paper?
4) Did you check to make sure your classmates learned the term?

Additional questions: Were you prepared at the start of class? If not, why not?
2) Did you ask your teacher for help if you didn't understand the term you were assigned to teach? If not, why not?
For Classmates:
1) If you were watching your classmates, did you create a flashcard? Did you ask questions if you didn't understand the term?
2)Did you give your classmates eye contact and other ways of demonstrating active attention?

I think that my presentation was creative even thought I didn't havea game or anything for eveyone to play. My presentation was also short i would say that it was around 3 minute long and it was informative. Both of my terms was describe vocally and written down so poeple can either read or listen. I think that my classmates learned the terms because everyone were asking questions about it, making sure that they understand it fully. I was prepared from the start except that my work wasnt on chart paper because I didn't think we were going to need them. I also created for all the other terms that the rest of the class presented.

As a classmate, i believe that i was very respectful and i payed attention to everyone lessons. I wrote the words on index cards and so far my fellow classmates have been good teachers because i haven't had the need to ask a question about the metrical terms they have taught to us.

If I may, I think some clarifications are in order from Jeriel's post:

1) havea= have a
2) minutes not minute (more than 1)
3) Capitalize "I"!
4) Semicolon after short.
5) poeple= people
6) It= them (again, more than 1 item)
7) Contraction symbol (') in wasn't!
8) We= I (only one person reference)
9) Were= was
10) Phew! Done.

Sorry if you find this mean Jeriel, I felt it needed to be done. Moreover, you CAN learn from it.

Now, I present my Self-Evaluation.

I thought that my presentation was very creative, even though I forgot my original materials for one of my games, I thought I improvised well. Moreover, I think that the Tongue Twisters Test was a unique way of learning alliteration. I wasn't quite aware of my timespan, but since I didn't hear a mention of a time crunch during my presentation, I assume it fit the timeline. (either that, or you got lost in the fun!)

I did define my term both orally and on paper. I did not anticipate on using chart paper for the terms, but I was prepared when it was my turn to present. I think that my fellow classmates have learned the terms to a fairly knowledgeable degree.

I made sure that they learned the terms well through visual aid (the cone rhyme game) and through oral repitition (Tongue Twisters) to cover all basis on which the words are displayed to them; either visually (like reading a passage) or verbally (like reciting a literature piece).

I felt that my presentation was satisfactory. It was good and easy to understand. It wasn't creative in the aspect of creating a game for my classmates but I think the students more or less understood the terms. Even though I wasn't prepared, I felt I gave it my best. I did keep it short and to the point and I gave good examples for each one. POSTED BY ESTEFANY

As a presenter, teaching to the was not a challenge. Being in front your fellow peers shouldn’t be stressed or worried. On the other hand my lesson though late was efficient. It successfully taught the class what the terms assonance and foot means and how to apply them to poetry while staying within a reasonable amount of time. To ensure that the terms were understood I made sure I was audible to the whole class and distributed handouts to the class.

This class in my opinion is great. I love the challege it presents. I feel that all classes should be like our a.p english class. Everything else compared to this class is baby stuff. For example this class is as easy as adding and subtracting. The challenges I feel lik that I am presented with are h.w more then I am use to but I really do like it. I'm not trying to be a suck up but I would go as for to say that I'm in love with this class. Its extremely exilirating

i enjoyed my presentation. i believe it was creative in the way i tried 2 make my "students" understand the term. i kept my presentation short and still got across all of my information. i presented my term out loud and on paper, and i made sure my students understood the terms. i wasent prepared at the start of class because i didnt take my chart paper home. i created flash cards for ALL of my fellow teachers's terms and i believe i understodd all of their words.

I can stipulate that my actions weren't Ideal, however my intent wasn't malicious. I wholeheartedly apologize for overly scrutinizing the first post. This won't be an issue in the future.
