To be blunt absurdism is, well, absurd. It's major belief is to not believe in anythings which is a belief in it's self. It tries to go against the comformaties of society. Things such as launguauge and logic are to restraining. In an absurdist mentality feeling and thoughts can not be put into words. If you get rid of logic and laungauge you get your freedom. At first, it seems to be confusing but it turns out to be humorous.

Just in case the homework for Monday will be checked via the blog, I will post it below.

Answers to Absurdism Q's

1) The reaction to absurdist theather when it was first introduced was rejection and incomprehension because it broke the traditional "format" of theatre (plot, climax, etc.) and the dialogue was sheer nonsense.

2) The complex relationship between the Theather of the absurd and language is that these plays didn't see language as enough to express the "essence of human experience." Therefore, the Theather prefers to use conventionalised speech.

3) The relationship between the Theather and logic is that it defies it. The theatre subvert logic and create scenarios that purposefully contradict the theories of logic.

4) The goals of these plays are to:

a) "Attempt to restore the importance of myth and ritual to our age"

b) Make people realize the possibilities of "going beyond everyday speech conventions and communicating more authentically.

1. The reaction to the absurdist theater was senseless, meaningless and people did not like the idea of it at all. People did not like it because it changed how theater originally was and people are not that excited about change in something they think is perfect.
2. In the theater of Absurd they believed that language was very unreliable and insufficient tool of communication. So instead they use conventionalised speech and clichés. They believed that language didn’t express the essence of human nature.
3. The theater denies logic, it relishes the unexpected and the logically impossible. The theater wants to “shatter the enclosing walls of the human condition itself.” So they want to get rid of logic and do the impossible. For example in R&G are dead, they author has 2 sided coin landing on heads 85 times in a row when in true logic that is impossible.
4. The goals of the theater is to create something that is new, but not really normal that people are use to and to also to show that just become something has been one way for hundreds of years doesn’t mean that you always have to follow it.
